Growth: Both Professional and Personal

Growth. If you ask someone to define the word, you’ll likely end up with a different answer every time. The wall street businessman would tell you about growing profit margins and value returned to shareholders. The fitness guru would likely mention going further, more miles, more reps. The mom and pop shop would often think to their growing grandchildren before they even consider cracking open last month’s spreadsheet.

Everyone views growth differently, but for us its about bettering ourselves each day, both professionally and personally. While it doesn’t happen often, we love when we can improve in both mindsets at the same time. And its for those reasons we want to reflect about our time working with Keystones Oral Histories on their latest documentary.

Keystones Oral Histories is an organization in central Pennsylvania dedicated to preserving and telling the stories of minority individuals. While working with them throughout 2020, we had a front row seat to the discovery and recording of many African-American oral histories from York County, Pennsylvania. As we were helping to make these stories known, it’s also true that without the opportunity to be a part of such preservation, that we may have missed these stories as well.

While always being focused on the community around us, we are thankful for our partnership with Keystones Oral Histories for creating an environment that allows us to be able to learn about these individuals and their stories. Working with Keystones has allowed us to gain a deeper understanding of the African-American experience that we would have likely missed out on if it wasn’t for our professional partnership.

We are also excited about what opportunities the future holds. We look forward to continued work with Keystones Oral Histories as they continue to preserve the stories of so many community individuals. There are many great projects on the horizon between us and we can’t wait to share more details with you in the coming months.

No matter which definition of growth you use, it should always be the goal. For many, we have long stopped growing in our height, but we always have room to grow in our personal and professional selves.
