For Ransom

“On the verge of his potential re-election, Governor Bill Neil discovers that his son has been kidnapped, leaving him with a horrible ethical dilemma. Does he break the law to save his son, or does he trust what will happen if he plays it by the book?”

For Ransom was an independent short film project taken on by Ruby Media for the Midnight Run 24 short film competition. For the competition, the entire production, including all pre-production and post-production, was completed in only 24 hours. This also included all storyboarding and scripting going into this project. With the time constraints, creating a dramatic, House-of-Cards-style political thriller was certainly a challenge but not impossible. While 24 hours does not create a perfect production, it showcases that spending a little extra time in planning allows us to tackle far larger challenges more easily further down the line. For Ransom faced off against stiff competition, and brought home third place at Midnight Run 24, 2019.
